I can't believe it's been a year since the Coronavirus lockdown started.  I thought this post would be an one-and-done deal, but here we are on part three.  Below are my quick reviews of general shows - not really series - I watched over autumn/winter. Spoilers are included for The Bachelorette, football, game shows, and Atlanta.

The Bachelor ,  The Good Doctor , and The Conners are close to wrapping up their latest seasons. I'm not even waiting for the finales to share my two cents because it's been quite a doozy watching them through the winter break. None of my reviews contain major spoilers. Have you watched any of these shows or watching something else in 2020? Feel free to share in the comments!

I happened to catch a few older and newer movies in July, but felt my thoughts were better if they were laid out simple reviews. The review for Thelma contains spoilers. Have you seen these films? Let me know what you think in the comments!

Quick Tv Reviews: The Orville, Survivor: Edge of Extinction, What We Do In The Shadows

Image
With all of the streaming services available and tapping our fingers on apps to find exactly what we want, it's a little odd to talk about traditional shows - those old things we used to wait wait-to-week to watch an entire series unfold. The Orville, Survivor: Edge of Extinction, What We Do In The Shadows  recently wrapped up their latest series, and were some of the traditional shows I enjoyed this past Spring. They may not be "on" or available right now, but thought it'd still be fun to share my thoughts on their latest seasons. What are you watching right now? anything on streaming or traditional tv? Let me know in the comments.

Quick Reviews: Deadpool (2016) and Deadpool 2 (2018)

Image
20th Century Fox Diagnosed with stage four cancer after falling head over heels with the love of his life Vanessa (Morena Baccarin), Wade Wilson's conned into becoming something he never wanted: a superhero. Duped by a mysterious recruiter Francis (Ed Skrein) who promises an experimental cure for cancer, Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) is taken prisoner and his body is tortured into awakening mutant genes that cures his illness but leaves his body disfigured. And Francis isn't done yet: he also kidnaps Vanessa. There's only one thing left on Wade's mind: to do whatever it takes to save his girlfriend. Deadpool  is very much like the titular character: it's not like any superhero we've seen before. Unapologetic in its wisecracks and sarcasm, Ryan Reynolds's performance breaks the fourth wall and favors the deadpan humor he's developed throughout his career in Hollywood. The film is easily tailored to his comedic sweet spots, which isn't surprising becaus...

Quick Reviews: Spies of the Summer

Image
Photo Credit: Mission Impossible Rogue Nation / Paramount Pictures Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his team are in a bit of pickle. Head of the C.I.A. Alan Hunley (Alec Baldwin) is gung-ho about shutting down Impossible Missions Force for its unorthodox approach of taking down the U.S. biggest enemies. Except Hunt has more than a hunch about a bigger, more volatile spy organization named the Syndicate - a system the C.I.A. does not believe exists. After the IMF is disbanded and absorbed by Hunley, Hunt is branded a fugitive out to incite MI6 agents who have gone rogue. Coming back from the fourth installment,  Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation launches a new director this fifth edition into new heights. Favorite players like Simon Pegg, Jeremy Renner and Ving Rhames return as smoothly as ever, and Cruise just keeps getting better with age. Stealing the show and rightfully so is Rebecca Ferguson, as Ilsa Faust who is a MI6 agent and Syndicate operative keeping Hunt on his toes...
