TMP Television Edition: TV Score and/or Theme Song

Wandering Through the Shelves hosts Thursday Movie Picks. It's a weekly series where bloggers post and share various movie picks every Thursday.

The rules are simple: based on the theme of the week pick three to five movies and tell us why you picked them. For further details and the schedule visit the series main page here.

This week is Thursday Movie Picks - TMP Television Edition: TV Score and/or Theme Song. These could've easily been used for TV Opening Sequence a few weeks ago.

The Office

The characters and group dynamic is so dysfunctional in The Office. This theme is a little mischievous but also quaint and old-fashioned. It's one of those simple yet influential themes that you only have to hear in one episode before it gets stuck in your head.

Game of Thrones

I feel like it's a rite of passage to become absolutely obsessed with this theme when you start watching the series. At least, it happened to me when I binge-watched the whole show before the absolutely stunning pitch-perfect final season...It's fun to see how many musicians and artists created a cover of the score. (One of my faves). That kind of impact seems rare now.

FRIENDS

I have a real love / hate relationship with this show. It was the first to pop into my head for theme songs, so I had to give credit where its due as the top pick. It perfectly fits the characters and their friendships, and I loved how the opening sequence changed every season with different funny moments/episodes. Still, I can't help thinking about what the royalty checks are since the series plays non-stop on re-runs.
