That's usually what causes the separation between him and the rest of the group. I still think there's a lot of growth left in him, depending on where the writers go. Rick, right now, is on an invincibility high. He thinks with their track record of handling everyone as far back as Shane and the Nebraska-bar jerks, they can just get in and out of bloodbaths unscathed. That's totally going to bite them in the end.

I can see if the writers are trying to show that the characters' decisions aren't always logical. They've done that before, but their construction of it isn't as cohesive to me as it has been. They're jumping around a lot in terms of how the group is handling everything - they're supposed to be desperate enough to need food but waste time chasing down Jesus and losing all those supplies? With trying to save Craig and kill Negan's group, this isn't like trying to get Beth back. Noah proved himself to actually want to help them; the guy Rick is taking under his wing hasn't proven anything; he could be just leading them into a trap. There's a lot of risktaking going on without suitable buildup. They're just diving into this deal because they can; because they managed to outsmart him before - but it was all blind luck. Especially with something like Maggie being pregnant - they're going to put her and Glenn's lives on the line even though Alexandria is growing crops, they're going on runs, they're learning to defend themselves. It's really just a lazy strategy to weaken ASZ so Negan can look even more powerful and Rick/Daryl/etc. doesn't like bullies.

But I'll see where this goes in the upcoming episodes. When I re-watch this season again sometime, maybe it'll be more consistent to me.

I really like how they've directed and written Abraham so far. I agree about Rosita and Sasha; they both have similar qualities that Abraham is attracted to, and he just happened to fall in love with them for different reasons. He's seeing everyone else settle down around him or he's thinking about the future, and likes the way Sasha calls bullshit. So he wants to go in another direction. If the writers square everything away with his choice, and it doesn't leave Sasha and Rosita in a bitter, petty jealous place, the storyline could be great.Katyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00287429151542133314noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5681829365024405949.post-83607776784496305842017-02-28T15:13:31.265-05:002017-02-28T15:13:31.265-05:00Thanks Brittani! I always took Maggie following Deanna's leadership because she seem somewhat balanced in her decisions; except for following and trying to find Glenn she's never gone off the deep-end. What foreshadowing for Glenn did you see? Maybe I missed something. Jesus mentioned the right of the bat thing, and he and Maggie are getting settled with her pregnancy. A character getting involved more is usually a calling that they are going to die soon. I really hope it's not Glenn. I'd probably run out of the room if that scene came on!Katyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00287429151542133314noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5681829365024405949.post-8365746111414300692017-02-28T15:13:30.117-05:002017-02-28T15:13:30.117-05:00Yeah, a lot of this episode came straight from the...Yeah, a lot of this episode came straight from the comics. They're following it pretty faithfully recently. The 2nd half of the season has been quite good in my opinion. The first half had problems. I really don't understand the whole Morgan being a pacifist thing. Morgan was NOT a pacifist in the comics. He went cray cray for a while, but similar to Rick he recovered when he healed from heartbreak. Comic book Morgan didn't have to go on a kung fu quest or something like that.

With regard to Rick's decision making this season, I think the writers are trying to emphasize that human behavior isn't always logical. This is especially true on TWD. The group has seriously underestimated Negan. Think about it-- Negan's guys appeared out of nowhere and where on top of Sasha, Abraham and Darryl before they even saw them. The only reason they got of that situation was b/c Darryl had a RPG. Rick frequently underestimates situations. Besides being a badass and smokin' hot when he has stubble (I don't like clean shaven Rick), I really don't think he's that great of a leader.

With regard to Abraham and Sasha...the comics give a little more background than what has been given in the tv series. It's still a douchey move for Abraham to dump Rosita, but it made sense once he explained himself. Basically when he hooked up with Rosita he felt like she was the last woman on earth...and he settled for her. Then when he met Sasha (Holly in the comics-- she died on the tv series when the wolves attacked) and he realized that Rosita wasn't the last woman on earth and he could be with the person he really wanted to be with.

The comics handled it well. Abraham may have felt dissatisfied with his relationship with her, but Rosita was still wonderful, smart, and deserving of being loved. She wasn't dumb or naive. She's still a great character, but Abraham never felt well suited with her. If you think about his personality and what he's attracted to, it makes sense. Also, in this world, Abraham felt like he had to live life to the fullest b/c any moment could be his last. I totally get that.

Admittedly, Holly was really douchey in the comics toward Rosita. She actively went after Abraham. It seems like the tv series is making Sasha a little more sympathetic.Katyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00287429151542133314noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5681829365024405949.post-8226874204616559852017-02-28T15:13:29.438-05:002017-02-28T15:13:29.438-05:00Great post. I still wish they would've told us why she was interested in leading and why she chose to follow Deanna, but the real answer is because comic plot.

I can't remember if the reason Negan never saw ASZ was revealed in the comics either, because literally Hilltop and Alexandria are like 20 miles apart. It's weird they never crossed paths.

I wish Morgan would get lucilled, but the foreshadowing was so heavy in this episode that I'm sure Glenn will get it and that sucks.Katyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00287429151542133314noreply@blogger.com
